Financial Planning Expanded
As you may or may not be aware many accountants have been active in recommending the setup of SMSFs, sometimes then referring the preparation of the SMSF investment plan and other strategic matters to licensed financial planners and sometimes not with Accountants being the main party involved in SMSF work as a whole
Until now.
We are currently in a transition phase, where recognised accountants – members of one of the three professional accounting bodies who meet certain requirements including holding a Public Practice Certificate – can apply for a “limited” AFSL to continue their SMSF recommendation activities post-30 June 2016.
With the Accountants exemption coming to an end at 30th of June 2016 we have recently acquired our own financial services license, considering the large amount of SMSF work we do we assessed this was critical for the success of our offices going forward- our AFSL covers not only for the provision of Self Managed Superannuation advice but also full financial advice as we already have a number of financial advisers providing full financial advice.
We have applied and been granted our AFSL under our related business Vivid Financial Planning Pty Ltd – you can see them here in the end this was simplest as MAS Tax Accountants already holds a large number if licenses.
